Today was a great day. Full of laughs, great food and the NBA All Star game. I slept in until around 10:30 and woke up just in time to enjoy my gifts and head to the theaters!
Over the past 2 years I have emerged myself in the unchartered territories of DC and Marvel. I never would have given it a chance if it wasn’t for my boyfriend. Thanks Nic!
Great movie from beginning to end, never a dull moment and it was HILARIOUS! No worries, I won’t spoil it for you. But I HIGHLY recommend you go see it. (Leave the kids with the sitter, trust me.)
Now to the great food.
In June of 2015, we had the pleasure of spending a weekend in Jacksonville, Fl. In addition to attending an amazing show at the Alhambra Dinner theater we dined at the Metro Diner before heading back to GA. There we experienced, in all it’s greatness, the pound cake french toast.
So today, I wanted to take us back down memory lane with my take on the french toast.
The Fresh Market is always the go-to place when we need fresh meats or breads.
While I cooked the bacon I made the turkey sausage patties and preheated my oven to a low temp. That just to keep the food warm while I continued to cook.
Once the bacon was finished, I started the sausage and began to start on the french toast.
The star of the show is the French Vanilla Pound Cake made daily by The Fresh Market. It’s fluffy, rich and indulgent. I sliced 4, thick slices. (you want them to hold up during the dunking process)
The french toast mixture is simple and lightly flavored, I wanted the taste of the french vanilla pound cake to be the highlight. Mix, whisk, dunk, and cook until golden brown on each side. Full Recipe >here<
